Our first installation of Diathonite thermactiv last summer, to the concrete basement walls of two apartments in Oslo. Diathonite is fast to install (up to 500sqm in a day) and offers impressive thermal, moisture and acoustic benefits to any wall it joins.

OSB and chipboard are often the weakest link in timber construction systems, with woodchip sourced from virgin forests and bonded using synthetic resins. We’re excited to introduce OSB and chipboard from @pfleiderer_deutschland to our collection. The formaldehyde-free boards are made with a high percentage of recycled timber while also meeting or exceeding the performance specs of standard boards.

Oslo is full of beautiful old brick buildings — and most of them are cold and damp. Typical solid brick walls from the late 1800s and early 1900s lose a lot of heat. Over time, modern boards and plastic paints have made things worse by trapping moisture inside the walls, leading to cold, damp interiors. By using our natural lime and cork insulating plasters from @diasen_official , we can help these buildings breathe again. The historic facade stays the same, room sizes stay the same, but the walls become warmer, drier, and more comfortable — reducing heat loss by 80% (1.4W/m2k down to 0.3W/m2k) Where thicker applications are possible, we can easily get down to modern standards. Upgrading historic buildings without losing what makes them special.

We’re thrilled to announce that @matera.no has been awarded funding from @oslo.kommune to carry out two years of testing and monitoring of our first hempcrete projects in the city.

@house_for_a_forest is Norway’s first in-situ hempcrete house, and our new project at Vetlandsveien will be the first hempcrete block house in the country.

The research programme is being carried out in collaboration with @uninmbu , combining academic research with real-world construction.

Both buildings are hybrid constructions including hempcrete from @isohemp_naturalbuilding , woodfibre from @gutex_de and clay plaster from @claytec_lehmbaustoffe , along with insulating lime and cork plaster from @diasen_official . With the support of the municipality, we will monitor the real-world performance of these two case-study buildings, generating valuable data on energy use, thermal and moisture behaviour, and indoor climate.

This marks an important step in building a robust knowledge base for biogenic construction in Norway, grounded in lived and measurable performance.

This month we will complete our first major project with @sould.dk for @glasset_vinbar. The ceilings of the bar will be lined with seagrass acoustic panels giving the bar a softer acoustic and a beautiful texture. In June we carried out a refurbishment of the bakehouse at Losæter. Supported by Sparebankstiftelsen, and made possible by more than 20 volunteers, we removed the failing wattle-and-daub cladding and tested new ways of installing hempcrete between the curved glulam beams. Huge thanks to everyone who joined us on site, and to the suppliers who backed the project. Working with the teams from Bymiljøetaten and Losæter was a real pleasure. Upgrading the insulation and exterior plaster is the first step in extending both the season of use and the life of this small but important building in Oslo’s community gardening landscape.

Such an honour to work with the team at @nasjonalmuseet on this new exhibition for @anniehaloba. Walls are @claytec_lehmbaustoffe yosima plaster on Claytec wood fibre plates with stunning texture executed by the technician team. Crisp curved projections are on white clayfix paint. All gorgeous.

Hempcrete block allows hempcrete construction throughout the winter months. Here 12cm blocks are applied on the inside of an insulated timber frame. When plastered with clay the wall becomes an insulated thermal battery able to store and release heat and moisture creating a very stable and healthy internal environment. Fluff on the outside mass on the inside. All breathable. The full wall construction is less than 30cm and easily meets regulatory demands.
