About Us—

Matera is a platform for architecural work at the intersection of material science, design, and construction. We provide material consulting and design services, engage in hands-on construction and restoration projects, teach and distribute bio-centric low-impact building materials.

Our work is guided by material and ecological knowledge, emphasising the power of matter and craft to reconnect people with the environment (Matera).

At Matera, our goal is to challenge and transform the building culture in Norway. We believe that architecture and construction must move beyond extraction-driven models toward approaches that respect ecological limits, cultural heritage, and material intelligence. By reintroducing time-tested knowledge and embracing new technologies, we seek to foster a more responsible and forward-thinking approach to building.

Collaborations—

We believe that innovation flourishes through collaboration. By bridging traditional ecological knowledge with emerging technologies, we strive to develop thoughtful, low-impact approaches to material use and construction.

We welcome partnerships and inquiries of all kinds—let’s build something meaningful together.

Team—

Matera was founded by Matthew Dalziel and Andrea Pinochet. Together, we have a background in architecture and a shared commitment to rethinking material use in the built environment. We work with a growing network of professionals who share our vision.

Before launching Matera, we led our own architecture practice and collaborated on numerous architectural and educational projects worldwide. We believe in knowledge sharing, caring practices and building physics.
